Your first 30 minutes

This is the fastest path from an empty organization to a working one. You don’t have to do these in order, and you can always come back — but if you follow them top to bottom you’ll have a real program with real people by the end.

Each step links to a full guide. Skim here; go deep where you need to.

Lurno accounts are created by invitation — there is no public sign-up. You’ll receive an invitation email; opening its link takes you to a page that shows who invited you, to which organization, and what your role will let you do. Set a display name there, choose a password if you’re new (leave it empty if you already have a Lurno account), and accept.

After that, sign in from the login page with Email and Password. If you forget it, use Forgot your password? on the login form to have a reset link emailed to you.

You’ll land on Home. It leads with a greeting and one box you can type into — ask a question and it goes to the assistant, type a name and it searches. Below that, Needs you shows what is actually waiting on you, then a row of tiles for the jobs people do most, and Everything else holds the six main areas, collapsed.

Your home page

The left sidebar groups everything you can reach, under headings like People, Learning, Settings, and Compliance. You only see the items your permissions allow, so your sidebar may be shorter than a colleague’s. At the top of the sidebar is the organization switcher — if you belong to more than one organization or sub-organization, check it shows the one you mean to work in before you change anything. Your own account menu sits at the bottom of the sidebar.

Open Org settings in the sidebar and stay on the Branding tab. Here you set the Platform Title and Platform Slogan learners see, upload your Primary Logo for light and dark modes plus a Favicon, and choose a Theme Template and Theme Mode (with custom color overrides if you need exact brand colors).

Your organization’s name isn’t edited here — it was set when the organization was created.

If you have your own web address, the Domains tab on the same page lets you add and verify it, so people reach your academy at a URL you own. That tab only appears if you hold permission to manage domains for this organization.

Open People in the sidebar to invite the colleagues who’ll help you build and run things, and the learners who’ll take part. The page has two tabs — People for accepted members, and Invitations for anything sent but not yet accepted. The Invite button needs permission to create users; without it you can read the directory but not add to it.

Use Groups to gather people into a class, a cohort, or a team — groups are what you’ll enroll in bulk later.

Go to Programs. There are two ways in. ✦ Create with AI lets you describe what you want to teach — or upload a document to build from — and shows you the whole plan of modules and lessons before anything is written; you then choose whether it writes every lesson, just the first, or none. New Program is the manual route: pick a type, give it a title, and build it yourself.

Either way a program holds modules, and modules hold lessons. Start small — one module with two or three lessons is plenty to get the shape right.

A new program starts as Draft. Inside the program, the left-hand menu carries Publish — open it, clear whatever the checks flag, and publish. The status moves to Published and the program becomes deliverable. If a check fails, Publish tells you exactly what’s missing.

Publishing comes first: until a program is published it isn’t registered with the enrollment module at all, and its Enrollment view will say so.

Once it’s published, open Enrollment in the program’s left-hand menu. A freshly published program is open access — anyone with the link can join it, with no roster, waitlist, or capacity tracking. Choose Set up enrollment to take control, and pick who can take it:

  • Public — anyone with the link, but you still see who took it on the roster.
  • Anyone in the organization — only members of your organization.
  • Specific people — only invited people or groups; you manage the roster.

From then on that same view carries the roster, the waiting list, capacity and quotas, the applications queue, and a Push… menu for enrolling, withdrawing, transferring, and adding staff (instructors, evaluators, observers).

Enrollment in the sidebar is the cross-program hub. It opens on four actions — Add people, Transfer people, Remove people, and Manage groups — with a rail underneath showing what needs attention: pending applications, expiring seats, overdue required training, and programs nearing capacity. Transfer people and Remove people stay disabled until you have at least one enrollable program.

If you set the program up so people apply, incoming requests land in the Requests inbox for you to approve or decline.

Open Assessments and choose New Assessment. You pick a type first — quiz, exam, survey, portfolio and more — which pre-configures timing, integrity, grading, and feedback to suit that kind of test. Name it, and you get a draft to fill in. Publish when it’s ready.

Grading and analytics appear as learners take it, and anything needing a human sits in the Grading Queue.
